Jones Hargreaves have been involved in this prime retail park and district centre for a number of years and have provided a lead consultant role providing project and development management in a variety of key developments which have repositioning the park as the focus for fashion and the dominant retail destination in Durham. We have successfully developed new flagship stores for Marks & Spencer, Next (upsize relocation), New Look, River Island, JD Sports, Nike and Arcadia. In addition, new units for Superdrug, Carphone Warehouse, Mountain Warehouse, The Works, Greggs and EE have been created with an extensive uplift to the park along with a comprehensive refurbishment of existing facades.

We have added value in providing a comprehensive approach to the development process in contributing to lease negotiations and have been heavily involved in both planning and design influence. With a major remodelling of the existing car park layouts undertaken in a challenging live environment, an increase in numbers to 1,300 free car parking spaces now sees on average over 65,000 vehicular visits per week. A complex Section 278 Highways Works have also been implemented and managed by Jones Hargreaves to improve access from the main public highway. Finally, new energy efficient lighting along with sustainable below ground drainage attenuation has future proofed the park for many years to come.
